Economic Retreat: Governors’ Meeting Ends in Deadlock
Nigerian Governors who met under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Wednesday night to review resolutions reached at the last economic retreat in Abuja as it affected the nation’s economy could not reach a compromise. Briefing State House Correspondents at about 12am when the meeting held at the Old Banquet Hall of the presidential villa ended, the Chairman of the Forum who is also Zamfara State Governor stated that the forum would hold a fresh session next Thursday to continue further discussion.
He said “We met as Nigeria Governors’ Forum. At the executive session, we discussed a lot of economic issues. “The meeting is not yet concluded. We are continuing next week. Therefore, by next week Thursday, we will be able to give you a recap of what was discussed and the agreement reached. “In the mean time, you will bear with us until next week.
We are discussing critically about the nation’s economy as a follow-up to our last retreat. “By next week Thursday, we will be able to give you the details of our meeting and further actions.” Governors of Kaduna, Ondo, Rivers, Osun, Cross River, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Edo, Kwara, Nasarawa and Delta were amongst those who attended the meeting. Some deputy governors including those of Ogun, Oyo and Anambra also attended.
