EFCC invades former Comptroller General’s residence
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday invaded the residence of the immediate past Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, in Abuja.
The operatives of the anti-graft agency stormed the residence of the former Customs Comptroller General in two white colored Toyota buses with registration numbers RSH 555 ABJ, and BWA 645 GA.
An operational van of the Nigerian Customs Service on guard duty to the resident was sighted a few meters away from the besieged residence.
Our correspondent observed a heavy deployment of security operatives for operation comprising armed riot policemen attached to the EFCC and gun wielding plainclothes operatives.
Some of the armed operatives took positions at the gate of Dikko’s residence while their counterparts were observed discussing in groups.
It was gathered that the operatives were acting on intelligence report to conduct the search on the residence for the former CG.
Our correspondent could not confirm whether Dikko was in the residence on not.
There are reports that he is outside the country.
The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, had given the indication on Wednesday that the commission would arrest more prominent Nigerians for corruption in the weeks ahead.
The EFCC’s Acting Chairman made the comment while speaking at a meeting with online media practitioners and broadcast media managers.
