IfeanyiUbah Lead Pillars, Wikki In Race For Yobo
FC Ifeanyiubah are leading the trio of Nigeria Professional Football League clubs, Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists and Akwa United, in the race for the signature of former Everton of England defender and Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, sources report.
Yobo, who will turn 36 on September 6, signed an NPFL Ambassadorial pact with LMC after calling time on his international career with a Testimonial Match in Port Harcourt on May 27.
Capped 101 with seven goals, Yobo became a subject of interest from Federation Cup holders Akwa United, former NPFL champions Kano Pillars and title contenders Wikki Tourists as well as FC Ifeanyiubah.
Completesportsnigeria.com scooped that the former Fenerbahce defender who spent the 2014 season on loan to English Premier League EPL side, Norwich, is close to a move to the Nnewi club.
“That’s (Yobo’s return to NPFL) an LMC deal. Yobo is an Ambassador, an icon and LMC are trying to bring him into the league,” Chukwuma Ubah, the chairman of FC Ifeanyiubah Football Club Management Committee, told our sources.
