No Plan to Impeach Me – Governor Yari

The Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, has denied reports that the State House of Assembly has set in motion plans to impeach him.

The Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday was reported to have arrested the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Sanusi Rikiji, alongside other principal officers of the house in connection with an alleged move to impeach the governor.

Following the alleged arrest of its presiding and other officers, the House of Assembly, on Wednesday further re-strategized by listing six impeachable offences against Yari.

Reacting to this in Abuja, the state governor claimed that the leadership of the Assembly had denied the report.

“Even the Assembly says there is no such (impeachment) move and that there was a misunderstanding. But you know it is democracy we are practising and everyone can be hurt. We are peaceful,” he said.
