Yobo denies joining Kano Pillars
Former Nigeria defender, Joseph Yobo has denied joining Nigeria Professional Football League side, Kano Pillars.
After a glittering football career, the 35-year-old announced his retirement in June but reached an agreement with the League Management Company to play for a topflight team as league ambassador.
There were reports that the former Everton defender, who was born in Kano, opted to play for Pillars ahead of other interested clubs which included Akwa United, Wikki Tourists and even big spenders, FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
According to the reports, Yobo was also expected to make his maiden appearance for Pillars in a Match Day 34 clash at home to Sunshine Stars this weekend.
However, the former Super Eagles captain has now come out to deny the existence of such deal.
“I read that I was missing in action last weekend. I have not signed for Kano pillars or any NPFL club,” he wrote via his official Twitter handle (@jyobo234).
