Sheriff Threatens N10bn Suit Against Borno Commissioner Over Boko Haram Allegation
Embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen Ali Modu Sheriff, has threatened to slam a N10 billion lawsuit against the Borno State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kaka Shehu, for alleging that he has links with Boko Haram.
The special adviser, media, to Sheriff, Inuwa Bwala, in a statement, yesterday, said unless the attorney general makes an immediate retraction and apology, he should brace up for legal consequences.
Shehu had during the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, accused Sheriff of being the mastermind of the Boko Haram sect.
“Taking into consideration the fact that the said commissioner, whose emergence as a public officer remains questionable, and therefore lacking the competence to query the integrity of others, it is worthy of note, that there was never a commission of inquiry, instituted by the Borno State Government or the Federal Government that have found Sheriff culpable, neither has there ever been a security report indicting him, as being alleged,” Sheriff stated.
